Job Description

Responsible for coordinating Inbound and Outbound (international and domestic) freight; perform tracking and follow-up of shipments and claims under various modes of shipment (i.e., ocean freight, air freight, postal, truck, and UPS), and perform related activities as required. Maintaining a shared Container file with our CI group; supporting next generation transport management and automated ways of tracking and planning. 

A logistics freight specialist manages and coordinates the movement of goods through various transportation methods, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery.

Principal Responsibilities

• Manage all BTNA freight lanes in-regards to costs, quality, and delivery
• Planning and Coordination: Organizing the shipment of goods from origin to destination, considering factors like transit times, costs, and legal requirements.
• Documentation: Handling shipping documents, customs paperwork, and ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete.
• Transport management System - support system implementation and roll out
• Actively search and implementation of new carrier/lanes in cooperation to reduce costs and improve quality and delivery
• Provide volume information for RBNA quoting process
• Spot quoting - esp. air freight for non-contracted lanes and expedites
• Problem-Solving: Addressing and resolving any issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or other logistical problems.
• Claim Management
• Customer Transportation Complaints
• Maintain the Shared Container file
• Tracking and Monitoring: Monitoring shipments in transit, updating stakeholders on status, and resolving any issues that arise. Schedule inbound Containers
• Compliance: Ensuring all shipments comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.

Qualifications

Education Associate degree in related field.   Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business or related area.

Beneficial Certifications:

• • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD0

Experience: 2 years experience in a traffic or transportation. Two plus years shipping, logistics, transportation, or freight management experience preferred.

Special Skills

• Highly skilled with Microsoft programs
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, some knowledge of US Import and Export Regulations, Inco terms, and dangerous goods shipping and receiving. 
• SAP and Warehouse management system (EWM) knowledge a plus.
• Demonstrated professional demeanor along with a passionate, proactive approach to servicing the customer.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and oral/written communication skills.
• Proven ability to pay attention to detail, in addition to strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to internal processes and change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to work well under pressure or tight deadline.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
