Dutch design is much sought after and the Design Academy in Eindhoven is a major breeding ground for Dutch designers. The city - renowned as the birthplace of electronics giant Philips and home of football team PSV - plays host each year to Dutch Design Week.
Lamps, furniture, pots and pans, fashion, textiles, architecture, graphic design, websites, bicycle racks... Around 1,500 - mainly Dutch - designers are showing their work this week in the southern city.
Last weekend an international jury of professionals decided who the prizewinners were going to be. The most important prize, the Design Award, went to the iPad documentary Money & Speed by Catalogtree (Daniel Gross and Joris Maltha) about the shortlived 'flash crash' on Wall Street in May 2010.
The young talent award went to Bart Hess (1984), the designer of Lady Gaga's 'slime dress' and a lot more 'hi-tech' fashion.
