Nearly eight million Dutch people watched the Euro 2012 match between Holland and Germany on Wednesday evening. That is almost half the population.
According to viewing research organisation Stichting KijkOnderzoek, around 8.6 million people were watching the match just before the final whistle blew. Holland lost 2-1 to Germany.
The first Holland match on Saturday drew an average 6.8 million viewers. The Dutch lost 1-0.
The figure of 7,983,000 viewers only includes people who watched at home, fans who watched the beautiful game in bars, in public squares or at work were not counted. An average of 3.3 million people watched Wednesday' s other group B match between Denmark and Portugal.
